Once upon a time, there was a man by the name of Hal A. Peno. He was debonair. He lived in a garden with his family and friends just outside of Boston. He fought beatles, ants and pesticides for a rather successful living.
One day, he overheard his landlord's wife say to herself as she examined her husband's garden "I need something spicy to enhance my supper."
Hal knew he was ripe for the picking so he gathered his family and escaped through the mole's hole.
The Peno family lives in LA now near a Salsa dance hall.
Steadfast allegiance suits me well. Loyalty and trust in people has been put to the test many times, not always with flying colors. How does one know to whom to be loyal?
I wish I could house a pet in my apartment but pets are not allowed in my building.
My cousin, the Healer crossed over on March 2, 2009. She did a lot of her homework on me for her four years at the B.Brennan School.
Today her family and friends attended a fabulous Memorial. I'd been dreading the scene for a while not because I hadn't seen or spoken to my other cousins for years.
The Healer was one of four girl babies delivered to my Father's sister. The youngest of them made all of the arrangements for the Memorial.
I was dreading a visit with my sister! I new she'd be there. It went okay but I am glad it's over.
My Healer cousin's message to everyone is ~ the power of love heals. One of the narrators for the Memorial told us to take a little piece of my cousin's soul with us. So, I took enough to share with you.
It's a big deal to make a sacrifice. One time I gave up smoking for Lent! Where do you find strength to make a big sacrifice? The Sacrifice of the Mass works for me when I get to a Catholic Church now and then.
Women do not have to wear a hat, beanie, or veil anymore. A person doesn't even have to wear their Sunday best to go to Mass these days. Lots of times the music is terrific. Jesus' message is a good one if you are going to make a big sacrifice yourself.
Where does a Soldier find the strength to be ready to sacrifice her/his life to protect my freedom? Have you been to anysoldier? Our Armed Forces sacrifice a lot of creature comforts for us.
Whining, I write "It is too hot". I have a hand fan. I purchased it in Chinatown. It is very pretty.
I have a white cotton hat that I bought at the Lowell Festival. I'm a sweater when the temperature heats up. Cotton is protective from the Sun and absorbant. I don't enjoy feeling hot & sticky unless I'm engaged in private affairs.
Hot is a good thing. I shouldn't complain about Summer weather. I am not fond of A/C. Tell me to stop whining about being hot, please!
Today is their day. It isn't exactly a Holiday but August 13 seems to be a National day to pay tribute to them, the people who are left handed, I mean.
Who are the Lefties around here?
Babe Ruth was a left handed person. Barack and Bill are Lefties.
She stood in her red dress waiting at the edge of 'wood' for that man to ask her to dance. She wasn't going to wait forever, though.
So, she accepted every other Leader's invitation to dance any dance to any song the D.J. played just to get her mind off-of being in that other man's arms for three minutes of motion to music.
From the corner of her eye, she watched him dance with the other women. They were always asking him to dance. She wouldn't do that for all of the tea in China.
She waited for him to ask her to dance until the Ballroom was about to close at 4am. Suddenly, he approached her as she stood at the edge of the wood. (She knew he would.)
I've been to a shelter for homeless kids in NYC. I can imagine the Salvation Army's men's shelter. I don't even know where homeless women go.
I know that there is a shelter on Lafayette Street in the Municipal neighborhood of Manhattan run by a Faith organization. Everybody wants to volunteer there on Thanksgiving.
Three cheers for the volunteers who take the homeless off of the streets in winter to shelter them from the seasonal elements of poverty.
